4 ways to improve your Focus
We all know that it can be hard to concentrate on our duties when we have so many distractions.
Still, the first step is to take care a little more of our minds, and I will show you options to help you reduce anxiety and stress and invest more time in your well-being, knowing that doing that will increase your quality of life and, consequently, your memory and focus.
1. Change focus if things are way too heavy
It is vital to notice when you are having excessive stress, tiredness, or anguish while trying to perform any activity but can’t focus enough. If that is what is happening to you right now, bad news, you will most likely get close and blow it. So it is time to take a pause and:
open a door or window that is in front of you, and take three deep breaths of fresh air
stand up, and put your feet on the grass
make tea (or coffee)
Having these little moments of pause in hour days will bring you back into balance and support your mind to keep going with more focus.
2. practice yoga for 5min
Yoga will significantly increase concentration, and it can be done at home, even if you have never practiced it.
I have a foolproof sequence that you can practice for 5 minutes to re-energize before returning to your tasks:
take a minute to connect with your breath
chant a mantra that you connect with - I personally love "OM."
move your body with a couple of rounds of sun salutation A
take a minute to savasana
I have a class on my YouTube channel that will guide you through the sequence I just described in case you were wondering how it works, and here is the link if you want to try it out right now:
3. Invest some time in meditation
Meditation is an excellent alternative to having a more attentive and focused mind. If you have never done it before, start by doing a guided meditation on YouTube. They have plenty of options, and you can choose one that is the length and style you are comfortable with. This practice will allow you to get back to your daily activities feeling restored and focused.
4. Use the Pomodoro Technique
This is an effortless technique that I use myself every time I need to focus on something for a long time, and it works pretty simply. All you need to do is have 25 minutes of total focus on your task and 5 minutes of rest. I usually set up a timer to control the time. Whenever I have my 5-minute break, I do one of the tips I mentioned in topic 3 of this article.
Closing
We all know that most of us have full days with plenty of things to do, but the truth is that if we do not take little breaks to reconnect with our breath, mind, and body, it is hard to keep our sanity in our daily lives. I hope these tips support you on your journey of a life with less stress and more presence.
With love,
