3 tips: How to listen to your Inner Voice

When I began my self-discovery journey about six years ago to start listening to my inner voice, I honestly had no clue where to start or what it even meant.

Yoga turned out to be my first conscious experience of really tuning in to what was happening inside me, but over the years, I've discovered and developed other tools that have strengthened my connection with myself, and here are 3 of them:

  1. Body awareness: Sometimes your mind can shout so loud, but guess what? Your body speaks, too! Everything changed when I started paying attention to the sensations in my body and how it reacted to different situations, places, decisions, and even certain people. Trust your gut feelings and instincts. Those little sensations can give you valuable insights and guidance, helping you live life from a place of inner truth rather than just going with the flow.

  2. Solitude: Back in Brazil, I always hung out with people, even when I didn't really want to, just to avoid being alone and doing "nothing." Being alone seemed boring and even a bit scary (hello, FOMO!). But when I moved to a new country, I saw it as an opportunity to explore spending time alone. I started small, like going for walks or simply sitting in my backyard. And that helped me to build a beautiful relationship with myself. There even came a time when I found it hard to interact with people because my own company was just too awesome to risk losing my peace by going out 😂 (though that isn't healthy either; that's a story for another time).
And last but definitely not least...

  3. Journaling: So often, our thoughts race through our minds at lightning speed, making it hard to organize them, connect them with our feelings, and truly understand how we're doing and what we're experiencing. But when we transfer those thoughts onto paper, magic happens. Things start to become clear, and you can decide from a place of inner knowing rather than simply following the crowd or doing something just because you're unsure. Oh, and here's a bonus tip: If it's not a resounding "hell yes," then it's a big strong NO. Simple as that!

Now, listening to your inner self is essential for self-awareness and personal growth if that's what you're seeking. But just like anything new, it might feel a bit awkward at first and that's totally okay. Give yourself time, practice, and patience, and watch your connection to your inner side shine!

Much love,
